Have you seen any of these ribbons on our #firetrucks? 🚒 We’ve placed them on all MFB appliances in remembrance of the four @VictoriaPolice officers who lost their lives on the Eastern Freeway in April. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten. 💙

Each year in winter we see an increase in the number of #fires caused by heating, but there is a lot you can do to protect yourself, your family and your home. Install smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living areas and hallways, and test them each month by pressing the test button.

In a fire, silence can be deadly. Install smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living area and hallways and ensure they are interconnected so all alarms will sound if a #fire starts. More information: mfb.vic.gov.au/Community/Hom…

A fantastic result. MFB’s quick response to emergency medical incidents alongside our @AmbulanceVic colleagues is saving lives and that is something we can all be proud of. 👏🚒🚑

Last month our firefighters responded to 300 medical emergencies. MFB co-responds with the nearest @AmbulanceVic crew and provides life-saving emergency care to patients who are unconscious, aren't breathing or who don't have a pulse. #NotJustFires #WeWorkAsOne

Are you using your #heater safely? ✅Keep items that can burn at least 1 metre away from all heat sources. ✅Get heating, flues & chimneys regularly cleaned & serviced by a certified technician. ✅ Turn off heating & extinguish open fires before leaving home or going to bed.

Our colleagues at @ESTA do a great job taking calls for Victoria’s emergency services. You can listen to some of their stories in a new podcast, ‘I am 000’.

If you’ve ever called Triple Zero, you would have spoken to one of the operators at ESTA. They’re on the other end of the line when you call for fire, ambulance or police. Now you can hear their stories in a podcast which goes behind Victoria’s emergency Triple Zero service.

In a fire, the location of a smoke alarm can be the difference between life and death. This is why it is vital to have interconnected smoke alarms throughout your home so when one alarm activates, all smoke alarms will sound.
26 May 2020
Installing interconnected smoke alarms in your home means you’ll be alerted to a fire, wherever it starts. When was the last time you checked your smoke alarm? Visit mfb.vic.gov.au/Community/Hom… for more info. #WorkingSmokeAlarmsSavesLives

Through regular training and drills our firefighters remain ready to tackle any emergency that arises. This is a great example of how our Urban Search and Rescue firefighters put their knowledge and skills to work to stabilise a damaged building.
23 May 2020
Our Urban Search and Rescue firefighters were busy this week familiarising themselves with shoring support methods, which are used to stabilise and prop up damaged buildings. These skills ensure we’re prepared for a range of emergencies and rescue operations 🚒 #NotJustFires

Our latest campaign with @CFA_Updates is urging Victorians to be fire safe and install interconnected smoke alarms in all bedrooms, living areas and hallways. There is no point having a smoke alarm if it isn’t working properly, or if it’s in the wrong location.
