Nayef Aguerd shares his reaction after being ruled out of the World Cup ๐ฒ๐ฆโ๏ธ:
โFirst of all, I would like to thank you for all the messages of support I received this morning. They deeply touched me.
Unfortunately, I will not take part in this World Cup. This is not a relapse. On the contrary, I am feeling better and better day by day, and my injury is now behind me.
However, together with the staff, we felt that my current performance level was not yet sufficient to help the team in the way I would have wanted during the group stage.
Despite all the efforts made in recent weeks, it became clear that I would not be 100% physically ready for the start of the competition. This decision was made in agreement with the staff, in the best interest of the team and the competition.
A big thank you to the president of the Federation for providing everything needed from the first day until the last to help me recover.
I would also like to thank Dr. Christophe Baudot, as well as the entire medical staff, for their support, both medically and mentally.
This season has been particularly demanding, physically and mentally. I tried, as best as I could, to give everything to return in time and get back to my best level. Unfortunately, it was not possible within the required timeframe.
Of course, it is a disappointment, but I accept it with clarity and responsibility.
From now on, I will be the national teamโs biggest supporter. I wish my teammates great success in this World Cup. May they make us proud.
I am a national team player, but above all, I am also a supporter. And I will be behind them, just like you.
Thank you again for your support.โ ๐ฒ๐ฆโค๏ธ
