My latest definition of #digitality: overmessaged and underheard.

It’s remarkable how often I’m critical of others for the same things I do. I’m sure this a named psychological phenomenon...

Kindness is better understood as a sense of being “of the same kind,” and acting on that sense. Too often it’s confused with niceness, which can mask honest exchange and distort perception.

I imagine that autonomous lawnmowers will take over weekend yardwork before autonomous cars take over daily commutes.

Freedom of speech and thought is different in a digital age than at any point in history. The defining characteristic of #digitality is that communication platforms are always involved, and thus have an impact. An obvious point, but I don’t think the implications are known yet.

So enjoyed #PhilosophyFriday yesterday! Fascinating to hear what first and fourth graders wonder about. Not surprisingly lots of curiosity about what animals think.

What if online identities were supported by large NGOs, rather than Facebook or Google? This could make digital identity more enduring and trustworthy and open new possibilities for how we think about privacy. The “Third Sector” is noticeably absent in digitalism.
Really looking forward to it!

I have reversed my opinion about phones and #digitality in general in the past 6 months. The phone is not the root cause of distraction. Digitality is neither good nor bad. Conventional views give digital devices more power than they deserve.
