I'm definitely not your typical candidate for Congress. And right now, the only thing standing between Joe Kent and Congress is me.

Pilots, surgeons, and truck drivers all have to meet cognitive standards to do their jobs. Members of Congress don't. Congress sets rules on what kind of hat a member can accept as a gift, yet there's no standard for when a member can no longer serve and staff quietly run the office. Voters deserve to know the person they elected, not unelected staff, is the one doing the job in Congress. My resolution, H.Res. 1104, would fix that. I'll keep pushing to pass this common-sense reform.

Congress barely functions these days, but I’ve still been able to move meaningful legislation that will make life better for SW Washington by finding areas where both sides can work together. Whether it’s cutting red tape for childcare providers, making it easier for veterans to use their home loan benefits, or protecting our salmon from invasive sea lions, I’m reflecting the experience of my constituents in Congress. Turns out if you listen to people and stop playing partisan games, you can actually deliver.

Inflation just hit a 3-year high and my Trump-endorsed opponent won't say where he stands on the war that's driving up gas prices. He talks out of both sides of his mouth because he can't upset the big dog. When I attended the briefings, I didn't hear a clear strategy toward durable goals for the American people and that's why I voted to end the war. Braun answers to Trump. I answer to SW Washington.

Washington's machinists and aerospace workers @IAM751 are among the most skilled in the world. These are the people who build things, fix things, and know how things actually work. That's exactly the kind of expertise that should be at the table shaping policy decisions on manufacturing, supply chains, and the future of good-paying trades jobs in this country. My opponent says politicians shouldn't use public office to enrich themselves. Then he enthusiastically accepted the endorsement of a President clearly using his office to boost his stock portfolio. Braun sells himself as the straight-shooter with fixed principles, but he's shown us he'll compromise on any of them as soon as it's useful.

Local 612's Operating Engineers build the roads, bridges, and ports SW Washington runs on. These are the people who actually do the work, and I'm proud to have earned their endorsement. And I'll keep showing up to make sure there are good-paying union jobs for this generation and the next.

Big Pharma's dark money groups have spent heavily attacking me for fighting to bring down prescription costs. The people of Southwest Washington are the antidote to this kind of poisonous politics. I answer to them, not to whoever can buy the most ads.

Earlier this spring, faith leaders from across the Vancouver area gathered at St Andrew Church and shared their stories with me, along with their candor. As the daughter of an immigrant and a pastor, their dedication to faith and to our neighbors means a great deal to me. Thank you for hosting me, and for speaking plainly. It's EMS Week. Our firefighters and paramedics deserve equipment that's affordable and shows up on time. Instead they're waiting years and paying far more for vehicles like fire trucks. Corporations and politicians have worked together to write regulations that protect the big guys from real competition, and our first responders are paying the price. I passed an amendment in committee to start prying that system open. It's a first step, and I won't stop there.

John Braun says Washington voters 'get it wrong' on vote-by-mail. Tell that to the farmers, truckers, and nurses who can't take a day off work to stand in line. Braun is endorsed by Trump, who wants vote-by-mail gone. I'm fighting to make sure every working Washingtonian's vote still counts.

Fewer House seats are truly competitive each cycle, and the brinksmanship over redistricting is making it worse. Southwest Washington is one of the few places left where you can't win without listening to people who disagree with you. That's how it's supposed to work. I'm grateful my constituents sent me here to prove it still can.

Only about 1 in 10 Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, near a record low. They see corruption and members out of touch with what it takes to raise a family, run a business, or buy a home. And they're right to be frustrated. My fidelity is to my district. You don't have to be a partisan insider to be effective for your community.
