2. Helldivers 2
Launching in Feb somewhat diminished its impact by the end of the year, but looking back on 2024, I loved HD2. A great time, every time. Succeeds as a live game, a silly satirical sandbox, & an intense shooter. A generator for great gaming memories with friends.

1. DREAD DELUSION
The most engrossing game world in 2024. Its worldbuilding, writing, & atmosphere operate at such a high level—especially for a small team—with a visual style all its own. It left the most lasting impression on me this year & I suspect it will do so for longer.
