But with the cost of care soaring, the current funding model—where on average only about a third of support comes from the NHS and central government—has left many #hospices facing a financial crisis. Increasingly, they rely on donations from cake sales, fun runs, and the generosity of strangers to make up the shortfall, with some now facing the difficult prospect of cutting services or even closing their doors.
