racism, beb
MNEK, can you explain why the UK & US major labels stopped supporting R&B and Soul to the levels of how Pop is today? Back in 2006, there were lots of solo male and female Pop-R&B acts and nightclubs and bars loved R&B as it was sexy and cool music. It was danceable and ambitious... and then by 2016, it evaporated into Trap and Drill Rapping.
Why don't we have any new Mis-Teeq, Jamelia, Aaliyah, Ciara, The Honeyz, Keyshia Cole type female singers and groups? Or new male singers and groups like Usher, Boyz II Men, 112, Joe (Thomas), Ginuwine? There's a massive gaping hole in the music scene for commercial, marketable, Black acts.
Is it because the record labels don't want to invest in and showcase Black singers anymore? Is this racism and/or something else?
