As Women for Political Change sunsets, the organization wants to acknowledge and apologize for the harm caused within the organization and greater community, specifically toward Black WFPC staff and community members.

The Anti-Blackness and ableism within the organization should have never grown to the extent it did and was only exacerbated by the exponential growth WFPC experienced in 2020.

Our thoughts and prayers today are with Winston Smith’s family and community. Executing someone for owning a gun in a state thats hostile towards Blackness and also aggressivly advocates for gun ownership is hypocrisy. There’s no peace without abolishing the police. #winstonsmith

From my time in George Floyd Square today, I can tell you that the somberness and pain is palpable. The barricades that marked this sacred space were taken down by the City of Minneapolis before the sun rose today.
The energy at GFS is resilient but resiliency is exhausting.

As we begin to mark the beginning of Pride tomorrow, it's important that the trans origin of Pride be honored. It was Black and Brown transgender women who risked their lives to be seen and respected for living out their truths and the truth of other LGBTQIA folks.
