At least some of the differences between WCF and Savoy/2LCF are explained by this. The latter were authored by Englishmen, and they based their work on the Parliament’s version adopted in England rather than the original adopted in Scotland.
In analyzing the development and differences between the WCF, Savoy, 2LCF, and American WCF, even many academics fail to give proper attention to Parliament’s WCF (Articles of Christian Religion).

Grateful to @richbarcellos for such an excellent overview of practical sabbath-keeping. Not only was the truth presented fully and accurately, but also in a pastorally sensitive and constructive way.
In Episode 249 of Theology In Particular, Pastor Joe Anady and Dr. Daniel Scheiderer are joined by Dr. Richard Barcellos to discuss the practical matters in the Christian observance of the Sabbath. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

In a recent Consider the Confession episode, James Renihan mentions that his exposition of 1LCF incorrectly switches the text of 1644 vs 1646. However, I looked at an original copy on Internet Archive, and it appears to be correct. Am I missing something?

My own read of the Puritans is that they largely saw the details of civil government (e.g. form, terms and privileges of citizenship, suffrage, policies) as matters of prudence and not revelation. This should inform the way Christians treat each other over such differences.

Yesterday I visited a broad evangelical church for the first time in years. So many thoughts, but one is that I’m thankful for historic Reformed worship, and it’s a mistake for Reformed and reforming churches to adopt or retain broad evangelical worship.

Cessationism is an under-appreciated argument against Islam, Mormonism, and other false religions claiming continuing revelation from the God of the Bible.

Wonderful. We 1689rs need to match and even beat this number!
It was reported at the #OPCGA that 68% of OPC churches and mission works reported holding evening worship services.

I’m half Dutch and grew up in a Dutch American community. When I’m around Dutch folk, I’m reminded that “white” is an identity that has been imposed on and does not resonate with me. Merely having similar skin tone is a poor basis for identity and kinship.

2LCF is restrictive on a great many things, yet it has very little to say about political theology. 1689rs should learn from current Presbyterian issues. Unless we’re willing to revise our confession, we should not let this topic be cause for strained fellowship or feelings.

Both this Sproul quote and the clip are saying single women shouldn’t be passive in their singleness. Sproul is saying women desiring marriage should actively seek it. The clip is saying women should actively be a blessing while they’re single. These complement well.
“One excruciating problem faced by single women is caused by the unwritten rule of our society that allows men the freedom actively to pursue a marriage partner while women are considered loose if they actively pursue a prospective husband. No biblical rule says that a woman eager to be married should be passive. There is nothing that prohibits her from actively seeking a suitable mate. On numerous occasions, I’ve had the task of counseling single women who insist at the beginning of the interview that they have no desire to be married, but simply want to work out the dimensions of the celibacy they believe God has imposed upon them. After a few questions and answers, the scenario usually repeats itself: the young woman begins to weep and blurts out, “But I really want to get married.” When I suggest that there are wise steps that she can take to find a husband, her eyes light up in astonishment as if I had just given her permission to do the forbidden. I have broken a taboo. Those seeking a life partner need to do certain obvious things such as going where other single people congregate. They need to be involved in activities that will bring them in close communication with other single Christians.” - RC Sproul

Counting out the Trinity: 1 God 2 Essential Predications: One in being, three in mode of being (Father, Son, & Spirit). 3 Properties: Paternity (Father), filiation (Son), & procession (Spirit). 4 Relations: Paternity (Father begets Son), filiation (Son begotten of the Father), active spiration (Father & Son breathe the Spirit), and Passive spiration (Spirit proceeds from Father & Son). 5 Notions: Unbegottenness & paternity (Father), filiation (Son), active spiration (Father & Son breathe the Spirit), and passive spiration (Spirit proceeds from Father & Son).

Some considerations: —A good starting point: What is the median income for the size of his family in the area? —A helpful guide: Will he have enough to be exemplary in hospitality, generosity, and benevolence? —A burden to accommodate: Many assume “housing allowance” bumps up his salary when, in fact, it merely brings a small portion of it down to normal taxation rates (FICA only). For everything else, he pays SE tax (Income FICA = 22% ). *This assumes he doesn’t exempt himself from FICa on religious grounds (which I personally consider dubious). —Keep him “on the field:” How much will be required to insure his family medically, or support him for out-of-pocket medical sharing? —A long-term investment: Will the church assist him with future financial investment for when his strength and mind begin to fail and he cannot perform his ministry effectively? What about a matching program? When all these are put together, a capable church should aim to provide contextually sufficient financial support and benefit package (medical retirement) that provides for both his present and future. They shouldn’t make him rich. But neither should they keep him poor.
My Reformed Baptist brothers have GOT to do better regarding compensation for their pastors. We of all people should know the importance of their work, and yet I consistently see churches of decent size offering a pittance to men with families to support.
