Dog Callout 27th August 2023. 3 of the teams dog handlers travelled to Doncaster to assist @syptweet @woodheadrescue and @York_SAR in a search for a missing person. Search dogs Hope, Dottie, Bolt and Ebba all lent a paw to the search effort. @MRSearchDogsEng @MountainResqUK

An evening spent on the bed of the old Bar Brook reservoir getting savaged by midge whilst waiting for the tinkle of the collar bell of an approaching @MRSearchDogsEng search dog. Pint of @BradfieldBrew Farmers and a packet of beef @Piperscrisps in lieu of piriton afterwards 😉🍺

DOG FIND.
Operational callout 80 for our volunteer handlers in 2023.
Search Dog Wren of @Buxton_MRT found an elderly gentleman who got lost on open moorland and drifted into a deep gully before running out of energy and calling for help.

Wren and her handler found him sat down in the gully tired and unable to get out.
After the gentleman had eaten some emergency flapjack (and sneakily shared some with Wren), he managed with help to climb out of the gully and make his way across the moor to the team vehicle.

Sad news about retired Search Dog Poppy.
Search Dog Poppy graded in 2012 and enjoyed a long and busy working life.
She retired in 2020 as one of the oldest search dogs in MRSDE.
She attended countless callouts and always had energy when to play with her human brother and sister.

Poppy joined her fellow search dogs by the fireside in the sky last week. Her handler James and family will miss her but are thankful for all the work she did and joy she brought to their lives.
