I.m. glad she is getting her recognition. I had read about her and why the NAACP would not let her represent the movement. It was a strategy that worked, but we still must recognize those who paved the way.
On this day in 1955, Claudette Colvin,15, was arrested for refusing to give her seat to a white woman on a public bus in Montgomery, Alabama.
She was arrested 9months before Rosa Parks, but NAACP didn't want her to represent their organization because she was 15 and pregnant.
