Greywalls at Marquette Golf Club was at peak color yesterday for the Northern Great Lakes GCSA crew outing. Superintendent @MarquetteGolf & staff do an amazing job maintaining the course across some wild terrain overlooking Lake Superior. It’s a bit of a drive but it’s worth it!

Hot and windy day for the Spartans & Huskers today in Lincoln. Fun to be back after over 25 years. Tailgated with some of our turf students and took in game day festivities. Memorial Stadium is LOUD and yes the fans are Nebraska nice 👍🏻

Great visit to Hillcrest CC in Lincoln to play golf with Terrance Riordan. Knocked on Terry’s office door 30 years ago to ask about graduate school in turfgrass. That was the first step in me working under the direction of Terry and @Rockinsince57 for my Masters & PhD.

Stop 2 on Nebraska tour,Omaha CC. Spartan alum Eric McPherson is GM & Superintendent. Club founded in 1899 & moved to current site in 1925. Perry Maxwell did extensive renovation in 1952 & Keith Foster renovated in 2005. A challenging, hilly layout with “Maxwell rolls” on greens.

Taking in the Nebraska golf scene and visiting some Spartans prior to the football game on Saturday. First stop, Sand Hills GC to visit superintendent Kyle Hegland. The course lays like green ribbons across the prairie. Firm, fast, windy, and the friendliest staff you’ll find!

Internship visit with Jack Judge @TheTreeFarmGolf. Course designed by Tom Doak, Kyle Goalby, & @z_blair . Course is closed for summer maintenance so no pins in photos. Wide fairways, greens that allow for shots to roll in and collect, looks like recipe for entertaining golf!

Internship visit with Gabe Schneider at CC of North Carolina today. The area received about 10 inches of rain yesterday from tropical storm Chantal, you’d never know it based on how quickly the soils drained but still plenty of cleanup to be done during some hot & humid weather.
