Gretchen Whitmer had her chance. The board referred Rema Vassar to her for removal in March 2024. The investigation substantiated it. Donor flights, retaliation, the smear campaign against MSU leadership. The governor has constitutional power to remove trustees. Even she described the conduct as “shameful”. 14 months after the request was made, she rejected it. No real reason given. "Other considerations," per her letter. Now that it's politically convenient, she's blaming the board for Guskiewicz leaving. Ironic, considering he was fleeing the very trustee she was solely responsible for keeping in power.
