#RobertRoberson was convicted based on debunked science and the fact he was Autistic. Now he's due to be executed. There's a #SaveRoberson petition - and Texans can call their rep: innocenceproject.org/petitio…

My health/capacity has been deteriorating. For two years I've fought for an #NDIS plan review that isn't the same, was-never-even-accurate repackaged words (apparently my mother is a support? I haven't had one since before joining the Scheme). What now?

If my supports get cut because the NDIA has the wrong information in my files, what happens then? An institution? Or would that not be funded either?

PWDA has called the passage of the NDIS Amendment Bill “devastating,” citing deep concerns about its impact on NDIS participants and the disability community. Read the release: buff.ly/3YPoG3m ID: Graphic of Blue background and blue circles. Text reads Media Release

60 minutes shared a disturbing story of abuse inflicted upon a woman with disability in a Melbourne residential facility. (TW for abuse): buff.ly/3VYyfvh Lifetime bans are not enough. We need to end segregation. We need to separate provision of housing and supports.

"That is the thing with true ugliness. It does not come in the shape of a wheelchair, a cleft lip, white cane or scars. It sits in prejudice, digging and clawing its way into our culture"
“Some had their disability aids removed by photographers. Other children have been altered with editing software or banned from their class photos entirely.” I expose how the “erased disabled kids” scandal was not a one-off - and what it says about us. theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Very frightening indeed.
Well that's terrifying. Just finished the DSS webinar on the new #NDIS legislation. It's even worse than we thought. The needs assessment to determine funding budgets will NOT be a reviewable decision. Just like with Independent Assessments. @lukehgomes @SquigglyRick @abcnews

The solution to NDIS expenses isn't to lock participants into only purchasing the most expensive supports available. If you want me to only have supports made exclusively for Disabled people, be prepared to be spending a lot more I never wanted you to. People charge us more.

I'm not unhappy about all of the proposed changes. But even if I am ignoring ethics and my personal needs and the needs of my community, this one does not make sense. It doesn't make economic sense.

One of my NDIS goals is to be a taxpayer, someday. I love taxes. I do want them used well. I want to use my NDIS funding in a way that respects taxpayers, respects my fellow citizens and the Disabled community. Being forced to pay more for a segregated product isn't doing that.

If the #NDIS were to only fund supports that were manufactured or marketed specifically for Disabled people, rather than supports that meet the disability-related needs of Disabled people, that would mean the NDIA volunteering itself for the #CripTax.

Hi, Your response to my original tweet has meant a lot to me for a while, and I wanted you to know it's helped encourage me to do something amazing myself. (1/2)

I now have an AAC device myself. My internet isn't letting me share pictures, but it's a tablet with a sturdy case and a strap with the disability pride flag on it in pin form. I'm also running my own AAC symbol library, and it's planned to be added to the Open Symbols database.

"Extra time" as an adjustment for assessments, in my experience, almost always indicates that none of the actual inaccessibility issues are being addressed, and it's been decided it's somehow accessible to just give a Disabled student ten minutes per hour to account for them.

Some students need extra time, and this should be granted. Some students, like myself, need several other barriers to my equity in education to be removed, and instead I'm told to take a few more minutes to climb over them and continue with my studies.
