🦟📊 New research on dengue dynamics!
We extend the classic two-infection SIRSIR model by explicitly including mosquito population dynamics (the SIRSIR-UV model) and analyze its behavior using bifurcation theory.
doi.org/10.1007/s00285-026-0…
🔍 Key result: despite added realism, the model shows bifurcation structures consistent with the simpler SIRSIR framework, suggesting that *implicit vector dynamics* can still capture essential transmission features.
🌦️ Seasonal mosquito dynamics can induce complex and even chaotic outbreaks, matching observed dengue patterns.
A step forward in understanding — and simplifying — vector-borne disease modeling!
😍❤️ We are so much looking forward to welcoming our 250 colleagues in Granada next month!
The conference organization is at full speed, with an amazing program coming together in a fantastic cultural city 🏰⛲️🏞
The countdown to Feb. 2 has officially begun - see you in Granada!
🎉 Great news for MTB Group! 🎉

🦟📊 New paper out in One Health
Dengue is no longer just tropical. Our study shows that large outbreaks can occur even when R₀ < 1, driven by infected travelers and stochastic effects — as seen in the 2024 outbreak in Italy.
