Attention Missourians There has been an update to the previous recall of certain cinnamon applesauce pouches that began on Nov. 2, 2023. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has reported five childhood cases of lead poisoning to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The urgent RECALL was issued on specific batches of certain cinnamon applesauce pouches from these brands: WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree Pouches, sold at Dollar Tree, Amazon and other online retailers Schnucks-Brand Cinnamon-Flavored Applesauce Pouches and Variety Pack, sold at Schnucks and Eatwell Markets grocery stores Weis-Brand Cinnamon Applesauce Pouches, sold at Weis grocery stores

Items like these have a long shelf life and all products should be double-checked. If you notice any symptoms related to lead exposure after consuming cinnamon applesauce, contact your doctor immediately, as well as your local health department to report the case.
