#TrumpIsUnfitForOffice     #wtpBLUE    WE THE PEOPLE    wtp3124   A group of members of Congress called The Bipartisan Women’s Caucus holds an annual ceremony honoring women who serve in our military and veterans.  This year the annual event was canceled after the Navy, Air Force, and Space Force bowed out, citing Pentagon and White House policies on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.   This snub is coupled with the recent controversy surrounding Secretary Hegseth who reportedly blocked the promotions of at least seven Navy officers who had already been selected by a board of senior Navy admirals — a move that disproportionately targeted women and minority officers.  Notice anything about the Joint Chiefs of Staff?  Hegseth dismissed the second Black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the first female Joint Chief of Staff from their positions since Trump returned to office and replaced each with a white man.  If you are a woman or anyone else who isn’t a straight white male, why would you enlist in our military?  We can reverse these policies if people will get out and vote for Democrats!

#TrumpIsUnfitForOffice    #wtpBLUE   WE THE PEOPLE   wtp3123   The convenience of tap water and the assumption it is healthy and pure is costing us more…water rates are rising twice as fast as inflation.  Infrastructure age, localized climate risks, and state policies influence water rates.   Much of our water infrastructure is 1900’s vintage and needs updating.  The good news is we have $trillions in water infrastructure, and the Biden Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included a historic $111 billion investment in water infrastructure, aimed at modernizing drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater systems, as well as eliminating lead pipes across the country.  It expires this year.  And the Trump Admin has made it hard to track progress.   An EPA report estimated it would take $625 billion of investment over the next 20 years to meet the nation’s need for safe drinking water.   Trump’s distractions with wars and power are a disaster waiting to happen.

Who has oversight authority over corporations like GEO Group and CoreCivic?   Recently CO passed a law that requires detention centers to allow inspections every three months, to ensure the humane treatment of its detainees.  So basic food, water, and medical standards.  The new “acting” director of ICE is former GEO Group executive David Ventarella, an ethical problem.  GEO group holds 1/3 of all immigration detainees in the U.S., and 1/2 of its revenue comes from ICE facilities.   What do private for-profit detention firms have against safety inspections?  The company is suing CO, with hollow claims such as  “direct burdens”, and “this will create obstacles to federal frameworks for detention of aliens pending removal.”  The basic attitude is that noncitizens are somehow not human, deserving of basic care. This is why you see them hiding the worms in the food, hundreds of people held with only one Dr in attendance, and even the death of some.  Meanwhile they claim “around the clock” medical care and  balanced meals.  If this were true, there wouldn’t be a need to pepper spray protesters and prevent inspections of their facilities.  MarkWayne Mullin has refused access to the Delaney facility in NJ.  So lawsuits are the result.   We can’t rely on the decency of the federal government when they employ a firm who has increased profits at 700% since the previous year. How else would all the stockholders make money?
