Honoured to present at LJMUs Women's Physiology and Nutrition Symposium earlier this week. Great talks and discussions throughout the day and lot of new perspectives! Thank you for having me!
Yesterday's Women's Physiology and Nutrition Symposium 2025 brought together researchers, practitioners, and students for a day of insightful discussion around the latest developments in female physiology and nutrition. The programme featured a keynote from Professor Julie Greeves OBE, research presentations, expert panels, and poster sessions, all highlighting important and emerging work in the field. For more details about the symposium and talk synopses, visit the UMU website➡️ ljmu.ac.uk/conferences/women… A big thank you to @KelsieOJohnson and the organising committee for delivering such a valuable and engaging event💫

We recently created a fun handout for participants in the #FENDURA project After the study, each person received it along with personalised feedback on their menstrual cycle characteristics - Maybe someone here also finds it interesting🤗 🖌️Infographic by me and @DionneNoordhof

I may be (heavily) biased but I feel this paper never got the attention it deserves. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3904… We tested the agreement between the traditional 3-step method and a revised "2-step" method for the identification of menstrual disturbances in an athletic cohort 1/3

This could be a powerful tool in sport practice for the early identification of menstrual disturbances (without need for advanced blood testing) as well as in research… depending on the research question of course ;) @DionneNoordhof @IJSPPjournal #FENDURA 3/3

Not sure who needs to see this today- but here is the first ever high resolution video of ovulation from start to finish (in a mouse follicle). Pretty neat 🤓 mpg.de/23607874/1018-bich-ov…

Happy to share the latest publication from my PhD investigating the effects of the menstrual cycle on post-exercise sleep and recovery🏃‍♀️🚴‍♀️😴 We found small changes in objective sleep quality in the mid-luteal phase but no effect on perceived recovery. 🔗pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3944…

Everyone's saying it: "We need more research on female athletes, periods, contraception, training, performance & health". Well, we're DOING it! Please help us by signing up to this study/re-posting, as we're looking to involve > 200 female athletes here. tinyurl.com/study1ab

A must read providing important perspectives for current/future research initiatives. "Best practice guidelines should not deter us from pursuing MC research, but rather encourage us to prioritise questions that are meaningful not only to researchers, but also to end-users"🙌
Excited to share my 1st PhD publication - we asked 🇨🇦 female athletes what is important to them re #MenstrualCycle in sport Read it here: bit.ly/3BUALuN TONS of new research so we need to ensure our Qs are relevant. Main topics: -Training/performance -Culture -Health

I discussed the findings from our recent #FENDURA publication with @NRKno & explain why the "Super-Week" trend may be misleading. Nice to see our work shared nationally (...even if it is in the context of a TikTok trend 😅) @UiTNorgesarktis nrk.no/sport/kritisk-til-men…

"Super-Week": The idea that women have a 'super week' each month (day 7-14 of the menstrual cycle) where they feel and perform best because of the rise in estrogen that comes before ovulation.
