MFL Magic do the most amazing speaking exam booklets, amongst other things, for GCSE. So grateful! 🇫🇷🇪🇸 @MagicMfl mflmagic.com/uploads/1/3/2/2… #mflchat #mfltwitterati #gcsefrench #gcsespanish #mfltwitter #french #spanish #speaking

Same here 😂
Doing my speaking exams today. Apparently the local park was rammed with kids playing football last weekend. Might want to avoid it next weekend too. #mfltwitterati

In school doing an speaking exam revision session with Y11. I know some people disagree with them, but I like them because...

A) only the ones who want to be there show up B) it's a more casual atmosphere, helping to build relationships and confidence before the exam C) they're less tired than in a revision session after school D) it gives them more tools for revision E) (also makes me feel better 😂)

1/3 Language teachers know that careers advice for students can be quite traditional -future teachers, translators or interpreters? If you know of a career path a language has helped with, can you tell the story? A Google doc for ideas for ALL to share: tinyurl.com/CareersMFL

Love this!

I'm having roaring success with my Y11 French just setting 1 of the past or future bullets from a 90 word as a long starter (minus any time frame so they have to actually read it). Pupils are writing loads at speed and improving rapidly. Makes the real writing exam seem so easy.

On a lighter (but possibly just as depressing note) Bernarda Alba shouts "matadla" on the beach according to one of my y13s 😂

What an insult of a pay offer from the Government. Least it's 0.5% funded though, eh? #reject

In mixed ability sets,I always teach to the top, however, there’s a lot of scaffolding support for the low attainers:SBs. I do a lot of adaptive teaching:practice requiring short/long answers, target ss individually & always start from easiest to most demanding. MWBs work best

It's tough. I just make my peace with knowing everyone gets their turn to be first priority. Ultimately I've got pupils who are A-level ready in with others who are like Y7s - you can't work miracles.

We have large mixed ability classes too. In Yr10, we teach high, & adapt resources to stretch the most able & scaffold to support lower ability (we use a lot of your wonderful resources!) As we get closer to the exams, in Yr11, I seat students in H & F & do more carousel work

For listening & reading, i use scaffolding & in Yr11 use 2 different tasks, targeted to H or F. In writing, we actually start simple and build up - this covers all levels & helps to boost the F students as they see how easy it is to add detail and complexity.

I try to sit a low ability with a high one. The kids actually help each other. It the same lots of Knowledge organisers, sit lowers nearer from so I can get to them quick. Sometimes I make differentiated sheets but not so often.
