ALT This is the South Rotunda at 100 Govan Road, Glasgow. With a bit of Glasgow City Heritage Trust funding, it was saved from dereliction and brought back into use as the headquarters for Malin Group but was originally built between 1890-5 over the entrance to the 3 tunnels under the Clyde. The red brick rotunda, with Scottish slate roof, and cast iron Corinthian columns holding up a huge steel beam for the vehicular entrance, is a well known landmark on the Clyde. During the Glasgow Garden Festival it was used as an ice cream parlour. It was then used as the “Dome of Discovery”, funded by Glasgow City Council and BP Exploration to celebrate the scientific and industrial culture of Glasgow . The building was subsequently used by the National Theatre of Scotland, as a pop-up arts venue, forming a key part of the Glasgow’s 2014 Cultural Programme and Commonwealth Games. The Malin Group acquired the rotunda in 2015, working over 3 years to bring it back to its former glory.
