Stop the 45,000 sq ft Mega-Mosque in Albuquerque’s North Valley. A massive 45,000-square-foot Islamic center is planned on 4 acres along Second Street NW near Alameda in rural North Valley. New Mexico has only ~12,000 Muslims statewide (0.57%). This isn’t a modest prayer space; it’s oversized infrastructure for rapid growth. Why oppose it: Orthodox Islam’s texts and Sharia reject Western values: free speech, apostasy rights, gender equality, and mosque-state separation. Large mosques have repeatedly become hubs for orthodox Islamic ideology and parallel societies in Europe and U.S. cities. We can vote out bad politicians, but once this foothold is built, we can’t vote it out, It will become a permanent demographic and cultural beachhead. The North Valley is agricultural and traditional. Locals didn’t ask for the traffic, noise, or transformation. Peaceful private worship is fine.
