"The only time to look back is to see how far you've come" or something like that, and I must say looking back my initial attempts at blending(?) were rather messy. I invite you to view this gallery of questionable quality. #miniaturedesign #pictish #blender #3dmodelling

I also made my first attempt at Kobolds, because I always wanted an army of 3 foot tall funny lizards. These models were never proportioned for printing and wasn't happy with the details anyway but I will one day have my kobold army.

This was all around June last year so while some things I got started with got shelved in favour of working on my Picts I swear I will get back to them eventually.

I've taken to making some alterations to my longspearmen, trying to give them more variation. #Blender #EarlyMedieval #Picts #HistoricalWargaming #MiniatureDesign #Pictish

The monotony of all the Pictish work is getting to me, so I cobbled together a mini based on one of my first D&D characters. #blender #fantasyminiatures

The fourth and final WIP of my #pictish longspearmen. Manau Miniatures does not understand feet despite having two. #blender #earlymedieval #picts #historicalminiatures

Another few shots of my Pictish warriors all lined up in a shieldwall. Definitely need to work on more different heads. #blender #earlymedieval #picts #historicalwargaming

If you see this post, post a soldier! I could never miss out on a chance to spread the good word of the humble spear and those who wielded them.
You know what? People always praise knights or samurais, and they're all nobles. We should promo some ordinary soldiers! If you see this post, post a soldier!!

I would go on to reuse the pose for the Pictish Toisech I released in January (which was actually printable)
This time last year was when I made my first serious attempt to design a mini, a Pictish king. #blender #3ddesign #picts #earlymedieval #3dprinting #3dmodelling #historical

Naturally I forgot many important things such as proportions and the model was almost certainly unprintable, but seeing what success I did have with a first attempt did give me the confidence to continue.

#Pictish longspears WIP number 3, for this one I'm taking a few notes from the noblemen on the Brough of Birsay Pictish stone.

Just outside Tillicoultry once stood a hillfort on Castle Craig, where it was supposedly a very picturesque sight. Unfortunately it was destroyed by quarrying in the 1800s, now nothing remains but a conspicuous dent in the Ochils. #HillfortsWednesday

Another #Pictish WIP, something a little different though. No points for guessing who this man is. #picts #earlymedieval #3dmodeling #blender #3dprinting #historicalwargaming

Sometimes I forget the excruciating amount of research I've done for the purpose of making sure extremely minute details are as accurate as possible. So I trust if anyone notices I've managed to make a critical oversight regardless they'll pull me up over it.

The sword typology image is courtesy of the Viking Age Compendium, one of the few resources I could find on the internet that actually helped me with researching for my historical mini design.
