Calling Bull says residential school was genocide. Start to finish the colonial project was genocide, residential school was part of the genocide. Calling Bull got that right.

A good read from @NoLore on close linkages between antivaxxers, antimaskers and neo-Nazis in Canada. Media need to start calling this for what it is. H/t @h_shriya readpassage.com/media-has-ig…

what I love about conservatives: self-reliance, what I don't like, same thing. We cannot as humans be self reliant and be human.

Shout out to E. Pauline Johnson, Mary Agnes and Capilano as the FIRST Indigenous authors to write about violence against Indigenous women in Vancouver! 80 years before Lee Maracle wrote against it in I am Woman and almost 100 years before Accidental Women by Marie Clements!

The salmon have been committing suicide from the 1990's onward, almost 30 years, the government has had time to stop over fishing. Second, Indigenous people need to learn the story of salmon, they will not return as long as there is violence toward women!

I agree as well. Keep the pressure on. The conservatives are rethinking the cuts made thus far. Public pressure can make a difference.

Late hubby raised by his great aunt who, along with sisters escaped residential school hell by marrying Irish brothers as teens. Meant leaving family, culture & status for selves, children, & grandchildren... His sister was murdered.

I agree. My hope is that all teachers and school boards will effectively make it an essential part of their classrooms, even though the government has made it optional.

making Indigenous residential school history an elective slaps not just the survivors, but the non-survivors and their descendants. No one has calculated the suicides as a result of residential school, but they count.

I've also been reading a fair bit of Leanne Betasamosake Simpson lately, so she's a close second.
