Marcus Rashford is something I've been hesitant to speak because the discourse around him is radioactive. You cannot share a balanced opinion about him. It's a civil war whenever he is mentioned.
The club briefed against him prior to the Henry Winter interview & how they've handled forcing him out as a big earner. Taking his #10 the way they have is unnecessary & could've been handled a lot differently & later this summer. Wages are the club's fault, not his.
Rashford has fault of his own because he hasn't performed to the level he reached in 2022/23, he has had off the pitch incidents (both confirmed & unconfirmed) that have been a big talking point.
He's poorly represented & advised by his brother & that doesn't help either. Surrounding yourself with the right people is important & that looks like a problem for him.
The PR, performative nonsense argument is bullshit too, by the way. It doesn't hold weight. He has awful PR, the discourse is proof. If he had a proper team around him the narrative would be entirely different.
You can acknowledge that he's a good person who has done some wonderful things for his community, his club & his country on & off the pitch, but has made some mistakes.
He has been treated awfully by the media & is targeted in a way that is pretty ugly & awful. It is best for him to leave Manchester & England, starting fresh abroad like Scott McTominay did. I hope he has the same success.
It's a shame, because he's given me some of the best memories I've had with the club in a banter era of this past decade plus. I'll be sad when it's officially over.
