How to Easily Achieve 55k in
@KingsGambitGame
I stopped playing the game around the release of Artifacts. During those months, I was focused on Gambit in
@AnichessGame and didn't really want to keep adding more information to learn.
Recently, I decided to give King's Gambit another try. Even though I had been Rank 1 for several months, my inactivity dropped me to Rank 4, and I was worried I wouldn't be able to catch up.
Getting back into the game was rough at first. I was rusty, and collecting Artifacts felt like a grind since I had to claim rewards one by one. I honestly wish there was a "Claim All" button.
After finally collecting and upgrading my Artifacts, I jumped back into King's Gambit and... boom. Within about an hour, I scored 57k points.
Here are some of the strategies I use:
1. Delay captures at the start
Play a few random moves without capturing pieces. This helps set up the board and prepare for Frenzy Mode.
2. Prioritize reaching Frenzy Mode
Frenzy Mode is where the real points come from. If you see a sequence where you can capture around 7 pieces in a row, go for it.
3. Protect your streak at all costs
Once you're in Frenzy Mode, don't break the streak. Every capture matters.
If you accidentally break the chain, that's the best time to collect leftover shields, treasures, and other pickups before setting up another streak.
4. Always grab Queen power-ups
Whenever a Queen power-up appears, take it immediately.
I usually stay near a corner and prioritize Knight captures whenever possible. It reduces the amount of calculation needed and helps maintain momentum.
5. Repeat the cycle
Set up the board, enter Frenzy Mode, maintain the streak, collect leftovers when necessary, and repeat.
If you do this consistently, you'll probably beat my high score sooner rather than later.
Even though I'm a very competitive player, I won't be trying to reclaim the Rank 1 spot.
King's Gambit has been my favorite game whenever I wanted a distraction. It's also been the game I recommended most often to chess clubs and friends who wanted a fun way to enjoy chess beyond traditional play.
That said, I was disappointed to learn that information regarding the Magnus Cup qualifiers was only available through the app and not through the browser version. As someone who has supported and promoted the game for a long time, I felt left out by that decision.
Thank you to

For now, I'll be taking a break from King's Gambit.
Good luck to everyone chasing the leaderboard. ❤️
