At a time when Ghanaians are facing xenophobic hostility in South Africa, Ghana must be deliberate about protecting indigenous participation in our strategic sectors.
We must create opportunities at home so our citizens are not forced to seek survival abroad only to be subjected to extreme indignity.
It is my contention that if the Gold Fields lease is up for renewal, priority should be given to competent Ghanaian-owned firms with proven mining expertise.
Perhaps Ibrahim Mahama’s Engineers & Planners deserves consideration. After all, the devil you know is better than the angel you do not know. Our natural resources must ultimately create wealth, jobs, and opportunities for Ghanaians first and nothing more!
