Parents get your kids out of public schools. You can teacher your kid to read in about 6 weeks' time. Get John Taylor Gatto's books and you'll see how simple phonics/phonemes are to use to teach. I taught my first-grade grandson to read in that amount of time when he was in AGONY with how Woodland Elementary School was teaching him with those awful "Bob Books"! BUT THEN he got in trouble in school for knowing and loving to read so much he did a whole weeks' worth of homework in one night. In our American history PAST kids knew how to read BEFORE they went to school. You can't reform something that is doing as intended, to dumb down America. Plus, I subbed in the schools, and I saw how one attempt to introduce phonics was sabotaged. I made it fun for my grandson by making him a "Secret Code" Book with a dictionary and yellow highlighting pen. His younger brother wanted one as well, so I made him one regarding the alphabet. They loved it. They loved looking up words in their dictionaries then highlighted the word in yellow. They loved the phonemes. When Isaiah read a sentence correctly, I jumped up like a football referee and yelled, "Touchdown!!" or I'd do a gymnast "sticking the landing! Isaiah would laugh. Teaching a six-year-old to read is NOT rocket science and it DOES NOT require someone with a DEGREE in Education to teach reading to your child. FORGET TEACHERS!!! YOU CAN EASILY TEACH YOUR KID TO READ IN SIX WEEKS TIME. END THE PUBLIC-SCHOOL DESTRUCTION OF OUR GREATEST GIFTS FROM GOD, GET YOUR KIDS OUT.
