The problem here imo is mb not so much Metacritic as it is a whole games criticism apparatus that tends to see player convenience as “objectively good” for “quality of life” and not as a creative element that, through deliberate indifference/hostility, can make a game better.

Suda51 says that because of Metacritic, he ends up compromising with his staff on having things like dirtier and frustrating mechanics because it will obviously reduce the score.
It's hurting us to not allow creators to go loose!
