Here is a short video I made recently of me playing a short and slightly different version of 'Heatwave' from my old album The Magician (1991). I originally wrote 'Heatwave and recorded it as a full demo back in 1989, I later recorded it for The Magician. This video was created for  @shredmusicTV  and is also available on their YouTube/Instagram/Facebook pages. For those interested, I'm playing straight into the desk and using  @Line6   Helix Native, using a preset I programmed for my Helix Floor. The guitar is one of my  @Fender   custom telecasters with stock  @SeymourDuncan   pickups: '59 in the neck and Pearly Gates in the bridge. Both pickups are two of my all time favorites, I've had the '59 in the neck position in many guitars over the years. Strings are  @DeanMarkleyUSA   Signature 10 - 46. I recorded the backing track specifically for this video at the original '89 demo version bpm of 104. My new @SKBCases iSeries Jumbo case arrived yesterday evening for my favorite steel string guitar, the case is built like a tank like all my other @skbcases iSeries' and I'm confident it would survive a nuclear blast ☢️ 💪😁 Guitar is an @Epiphone PR-5e that I've slightly modified, I use @ernieball Earthwood 80/20 10 - 50 strings for this particular guitar. It has a @Fishmanmusic pre-amp & pickup and I typically run it through a @fishmanmusic Aura Imaging pedal for live stuff and partly mic'd for recording.

They're all very different and are three different types of compression. I've got them programmed into my Morningstar switcher so everything is pretty much automated by stepping on one button of the midi controller. I also still own several tube amps, but the Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 is so good and so tube-like, it's like having multiple tube amps in one. This is the nylon string guitar I recorded all the acoustic parts with on 'Scarlet Pimpernel' ten years ago for the Tony Iommi cancer charity album 'Great Lefty: Live Forever'. It's a Crafter CE15/N, I'm not sure if they make this model anymore, I bought it 20 years ago while I was in England. Crafter guitars are made in S. Korea, the craftsmanship is amazing, and this guitar sounds and plays fantastic. It's a solid cedar top with dao back and sides, 19 frets and 25.5" scale length. The pickup is by LR Baggs, I run this guitar through a Fishman Aura Imaging pedal for live work and through the Aura pedal plus condenser mic placed near the soundhole for recording. It lives in an SKB iSeries case most of the time to keep it safe, it's one of my very favorite guitars. I've been asked recently about my guitars and what I'm using at the moment. My two main guitars these days are 'Duende' (left) and 'Diablo' (right), 2 x Fender Telecaster Custom HH FMT. Diablo was used on about 70% of the new album, great guitar 🎸 For those interested in specs, the guitars are pretty much stock, the only things I changed out were the strap buttons for the Schaller locking type. The guitars have 22 jumbo frets, 25.5" scale length, mahogany body with flame maple top and set mahogany neck. Pickups are all Seymour Duncans; Pearly Gates in the bridge and '59 in the neck with a push/pull tone coil tap. I use Dean Markley signature strings, 10 - 46 on both guitars tuned to A440. These guitars are ideal for my style of playing, very versatile instruments that have their own voice, somewhere between a Fender Telecaster and a Gibson Les Paul, the best of both worlds... 10 years ago today I recorded the Black Sabbath instrumental 'Scarlet Pimpernel' for the Tony Iommi Cancer Charity album 'Great Lefty: Live Forever'. I expanded the track from the original version, but it received great praise from Tony himself and many Sabbath fans. All proceeds of the album sales were donated to Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK who were treating Tony for cancer at the time. The entire project was put together from start to finish by Rosita Piergiorgi in Italy, an amazingly kind human being and huge fan of Tony and Black Sabbath.
