Today, Chief Trade Negotiator Charette and I met with United States Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer in Washington.
Building on the discussions that have taken place in recent weeks, we discussed next steps for the upcoming joint review of the CUSMA, as well as Canada’s formal recommendation to renew the agreement for another sixteen years.
We also discussed the challenges posed by the tariffs imposed on our steel, aluminium, lumber and auto sectors.
Canada remains committed to a strong North American partnership and I look forward to continued engagement with my American and Mexican counterparts over the coming months.
