Sodium-sulphur batteries (Na-S)
With electrodes of molten sodium & molten sulphur, these high temperature batteries are cheap-ish, pretty efficient (75%-90%) and can do long term storage, but are let down by a poor operating lifespan: Just a few thousand cycles.
Coming up tomorrow: Thermal Bypass Workshop with @MarkSiddallRIBA.
The workshop will explore how thermal bypass risks can be addressed, and performance gaps avoided, by adopting good design and construction practices.
Book your place on our website: greenregister.org.uk/events/…x.com/greenregister/status/1…

VEGANS and VEGES
I recently learned that the veg protein from a single source doesn’t provide all the essential amino acids - which is why vegetarians/vegans need to eat diversely.
I recently found out that pea protein isolate is very close to ideal but is low in one amino acid
Fortunately a combination of about 60% pea isolate and 40% rice isolate ticks all the boxes and creates a properly balanced protein.
This is important for anyone over 50 as the body becomes less capable of digesting protein.
The bridge leading to/past Baxter Wood Farm remains blocked by a tree @DurhamCouncil
It’s formed a dam which can’t be good for the bridge or the river.
Please inform relevant parties so that this can be fixed. Thanks.
Just finished up for the day at Kinniel and was moaning about being cold to my nephew who is climbing on Ben Nevis today. He’s suggesting I’m a fanny. Sorry about the language.
