National hockey on CRBC/CBC began in 1933, and Hockey Night in Canada was first used as the program's name in 1936.

Well, this was a very heavy day for the Bill Barilko documentary. We walked for 2 hours, deep into the bush of northern Ontario to the place where Bill's plane crashed on Aug. 26, 1951. And as the video shows, it wasn't easy to get there. Only 30 people have made this trek.

On this day in 1915, Scotty Davidson was killed when he refused to retreat during a battle in France. A gifted hockey player, he won a Stanley Cup in his Hall of Fame career. His death helped inspire his friend Capt. Jim Sutherland to create the Memorial Cup.

An innovative coach, he pioneered the use of videotape to analyze other teams and was known for his ability to find loopholes in the rulebook.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002
