Final: Nats 10, Mariners 1. Reports of the Nationals' demise after the collapse in San Francisco might have been exaggerated. They've now gone 8-1-1 over their last 10 series and are back to 2 games over .500 after back-to-back blowout wins over Seattle.
Clayton Beeter will pitch the 9th with the Nats up 10-1. Miles Mikolas winds up going 7 scoreless on 83 pitches, allowing 3 singles and nothing else. Over his last 11 games, he's got a 3.38 ERA and 0.956 WHIP.
Wrapping up the bottom of the 4th: The Nationals sent 10 batters to the plate and saw only 17 pitches. Seven of the last eight batters put the first pitch they saw in play. They recorded 6 hits plus an RBI fielder's choice and scored 5 runs.
This is nuts: Results of the last 5 pitches of this game:
Single
RBI Single
RBI Double
2-run Single
RBI Fielder's Choice
Nats are ultra-aggressive against Hancock, and it's paid off.
Crews rips a double over the left fielder's head. Abrams singles to center. Ruiz perfectly places a hit-and-run single through the left side. Nats go up 2-1 in the 4th.
In addition to everything else he's done, James Wood has now scored 12 more runs than any other player in baseball. He's got 65. Brice Turang is next at 53.
