Switching from Strategic Planning to Strategy Management might not "sound" like much.
But the difference is enormous, with huge benefits to any organization:
👇
I don't know who decided that strategy "happens at the off-site next fall." But waiting months to discuss issues impacting strategic objectives today can't wait for that.
Have you ever met a senior leader that can do no wrong?
Even when they *have* done wrong? Do you know what that is called?
👇
Halo Effect.
And it is another bias that can silently wreck an otherwise smooth strategic planning process.
Celebrating when someone does something properly and really well is perfectly normal. But applying that celebration to their previous (and future!) negative acts hurts.
--> Worse yet, if members on a decision team are unaware of the anchor in the first place, they may never know this bias is in play.
Don't let this magnetic force pull you unnecessarily towards a poorly understood reference point.
