I just finished this fantastic new book on Pope Leo XIV by Christopher White @ChrisWhiteGU. If you’re looking for insights into the new Pope–– and his relationship with Pope Francis–– this is the book for you. It is excellent!

From today’s scriptures:
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
"This Pope and Pope Francis they don't fit into a box... in American politics we want to make them Republican or Democrat, progressive, conservative... they are devout followers of Jesus, and Jesus was pretty radical," @Mark_Shriver, a member of the most prominent American Catholic family in history, tells me on @InsidePolitics
.@Mark_Shriver, who wrote a book on Pope Francis, discusses Pope Leo XIV:
"Pope Francis' motto was around mercy...I hope [Leo] takes that message of bringing the voice to the poor & the powerless to Rome."
"These are progressive ideas...& what Pope Leo will really focus on."

Excellent - - and TRUE!!- - statement from my brothers @TimShriver and @AnthonyKShriver about autism. See their entire statement on Instagram. Reminds me of the Dr. King quote: “It’s always the right time to do the right thing.” Hope others are listening!
Pope Francis was not just a nice guy who liked people - he was a devout follower of Jesus who joyfully challenged us to get out of our comfort zone,to get the mud of the street on our shoes.I taped these words on my office wall.Hope they challenge, &inspire, you, like they do me!
and the refugee, to the poor - - he joy-fully inspires me, daily.
He asked us to pray for him when he was first introduced as Pope; he asked Jeanne, Molly, Tommy, Emma and me to pray for him when we meet; today, we will do that- - and we will pray to him, as well.
clearly loved being on the journey with us all….His humility, his call for Mercy, his Joy in being a follower of Jesus, his Hope, his love of the Earth, his example of reaching out to those on the margin, to the forgotten and the unincluded, to those in jail, to the migrant….
In June of 2016, we were invited to morning mass with Pope Francis and blessed to have a few minutes with him afterwards.
He was - - and still is- - a wonderfully complicated teacher; he was dogmatic, yet very open to the Holy Spirt moving each of us in different ways. He…

It was an AMAZING evening celebrating my sister @mariashriver’s new book “I AM MARIA”!
From an INCREDIBLE poetry reading by DBCR 9th grader Kayla to thoughtful conversation with my brother @TimShriver, the evening at @holytrinitydc was filled with the hope the world needs.
The world lost a hero this week.
His name was James Harrison.
When he turned 18, doctors told him that his blood had a unique antibody that could treat a rare blood disease in infants.
He donated blood once a week, every week — FOR THE NEXT 60 YEARS.
By the time he was done, he saved more than 2.4 million lives.
Know his name.
From today’s scriptures:
“love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back…Be merciful, just as also your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.”
