I’m just a queer man speaking up for my trans and non-binary siblings ❤️🤷‍♂️ - without them we are not a whole community 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️ #TransRightAreHumanRights

New(ish) to the Brighton restaurant scene @FurnaRestaurant excludes anyone with dairy or gluten intolerance & vegans. I received a birthday voucher to go here but they refused to even consider doing a SINGLE dish without dairy. It’s 2026. Lazy and exclusionary! AVOID.

1/ Today’s @CommonsWEC session with the @EHRC will not have satisfied trans people that the EHRC understands their concerns, let alone wants to address them. It’s astonishing in this answer that the Chair said trans people have no reason to be worried and haven’t lost rights. 🧵

Last week, the Trust was invited by Lesotho's Ministry of Law and our partner organisation, The People’s Matrix, to deliver hate crimes and communications training in the capital Maseru. The meetings were attended by legislators, government officials, and leaders representing a broad range of civil society who benefit from protective laws. The team - comprising Emma Eastwood, our Head of Strategic Communications, our Southern Africa Senior Associate, Lesego Nchunga, and Professor @MarkaaWalters, a global expert on hate crimes from @SussexLaw - also met with the Attorney General to explore options for advancing hate crime legislation in Lesotho.

When supporting governments with protective legislation, we understand that drafting is just the starting point. For a law to be truly effective, it must be clearly understood and effectively enforced. That’s why, where possible, our technical support goes beyond the drafting process to include assistance with implementation. In March, six months after the Penal Code (Amendment) Bill was enacted in Seychelles, our Deputy Head of Legal, Rosie Brighouse, Senior Legal Consultant Wendy Boucrot, and Professor @MarkaaWalters travelled to the country to provide training to the Attorney General’s Office and the Seychelles Police Force on recognising hate crimes and applying the new legislation.

When u become fearful of people who don’t look, speak or dress like u, u start imagining scenarios in ur head about how they will threaten ur security. The real trouble arises when u voice these made up events b/c, tho not true, they’re believed by others who share the same fears

Going to spend a little less time on here given its owner now actively incites hatred. Will still be keeping an eye, however, given it’s also my area of research. You can also follow me on Blue Sky @markawalters.bsky.social

What a terrible, terrible state of affairs. Some very dangerous times lie ahead. No more so than for all the minoritized people of the USA.
