Species don’t disappear overnight. It happens slowly, then all at once. Habitat loss, poaching, funding gaps, and public indifference are wiping out animals that have existed for millions of years.
The pygmy hippo. The African wild dog. The black rhino. Most people couldn’t name them. Fewer still are doing anything about it.
Accredited zoos are on the front lines of this fight every single day with limited resources and almost no mainstream attention.
That needs to change.

I used to wake up with this weight on my chest, wondering if I was doing enough. Enough for myself. Enough for other people. Enough for the world that has given me so much.
