We are already in October, but some of our #WhiteStork fledglings are still reluctant to cross the Straits! Although named after a Portuguese island, Berlenga - unlike many famous Portuguese sailors - does not seem to be at the forefront of European overseas exploration!

Very happy to share our new paper in @PNASNews on how #GriffonVultures change their movement and social behaviour with age: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.24… It seems that old griffons are much like old humans: they like to stay at home, are set in their routines and are a bit antisocial.

We tracked the same individuals for up to 12 nearly consecutive years, to show that some of the changes we found are due to individuals shifting their behaviour as they get old, and not due to the selective disappearance of some individuals from the population. #ornithology

בנחלים ערוגות וחולד נמצאו שני נשרים מתים מהרעלה. חדשות עצובות במיוחד בתקופת הקינון. צוותים של רשות הטבע סורקים מחשש להמצאות פגרים נוספים. הנשרים היו ממושדרים ואותרו לאחר שהפקחים זיהו שאינם בתנועה. אחד הפרטים בקע במדגרה של גן החיות התנכי. 190 נשרים נותרו בטבע 📷 רשות הטבע והגנים
