Meet the striped burrfish (Chilomycterus schoepfii)! 🐡
When they feel threatened, they puff up like a spiky balloon by sucking water or air into their stomachs! If this sounds similar to a pufferfish, you are correct—they're in the same order (Tetraodontiformes) as pufferfish.

An NYPD detective from Valley Stream who allegedly assisted more than 65 people obtain fraudulent COVID-19 relief loans was among four people arrested and charged in connection with the scheme, federal prosecutors said.
Four people allegedly conspired to defraud the federal government’s Small Business Administration, which administered the Paycheck Protection Program, or PPP, loans meant to provide forgivable loans to small businesses to help with job retention after in-person commerce essentially shut down during the pandemic.

Free Fishing Weekend is almost here! This weekend (6/29-6/30) the fishing license requirement is waived for anyone fishing NY’s freshwater lakes, ponds, streams & rivers so that anglers have the opportunity to try fishing, before deciding to buy a fishing license.

Staring today, June 12, 2024, the minimum size length has been updated from 21" to 23", the possession limit has been decreased from 10 fish per day to 5 fish per day, and the open season has been shortened from all year to September 1 – May 31.
