Trump targeting Newsom? Hardly. The investigation into Gavin Newsom’s corrupt, criminal former Chief of Staff Dana Williamson started during the Biden admin.
That's a pretty significant, scandalous story. Gavin Newsom claims that he knows nothing about that and wasn't involved. He was never charged with that.
RedState Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar joined The Liz Wheeler Show to discuss the details of Williamson's criminal activity.
"So she and Javier Becerra's former chief of staff and a political consultant were basically embezzling money from Becerra's state-based campaign account for a no-show job for Becerra's chief of staff's wife...But Dana Williamson was known as kind of an arm twister, is a nice way of putting it, in Sacramento, and she would, late at night, text people various threats of how they needed to do things."
The charges against Dana Williamson—especially the ones that she pled guilty to—are significant.
Williamson falsely claimed "more than $1.7 million in business expenses on her taxes. She used the funds to purchase a $15,000 Chanel handbag and earrings, a chartered jet trip and a nearly $170,000 birthday trip to Mexico, the indictment alleges," according to nonprofit Cal Matters.
The personal expenditures also included "a $5,000 Fendi handbag and wallet...an $11,000 yacht rental and a $7,000 Gucci bag and wallet," according to KCRA 3 News.
"And she also did some PPP fraud within there where she got PPP loans for her lobbying business and that business was specifically excluded from being able to receive PPP loans. So, she basically was taking this lifeline that normal people needed to keep their small businesses going," Van Laar added.
