Mea culpa: I was way too complacent about Trump's political strength/durability. I really believed his appeal would largely be limited to MAGA, particularly after 1/6, his numerous serious crimes, a year of campaigning on overt authoritarian threats, and (especially) the Biden pro-labor/industrial policy agenda. Whether it's the trauma of covid and its aftermath, or something systemic about Dems on economy/immigration/cultural issues, or the info environment's inability to handle the Trump/MAGA disinfo challenge, or some combination of all those things, whatever happens in this election, it's pretty clear that this confidence was badly misplaced. If he wins, as now looks likely, it's gonna get ugly, I fear.

Some historical trivia: the 60% requirement for referendums in Florida was itself passed by a referendum that received less than 60% of the vote.

“But what if Kamala Harris wins? O happy day! But even then it won’t really be time for a break. Doing so would be like landing successfully on D-Day and then deciding to take few days off…There’s too much work ahead, too much uncertainty in front of us.” thebulwark.com/p/no-matter-w…

My teen commutes to his CPS high school from our far north side home. I love that his friends and classmates are from all over the city. South side, west side, west loop, NW side, near north. It’s a true gift for him to have this experience. He is learning so much about his city.

Michelle Obama is no longer the First Lady trying to compose herself for the sake of a peaceful transition, like in January 2017. Good on her for calling Trump out for his lying and efforts to intimidate. Much more authentic.
Donald Trump likes to claim that he’s done more for Black folks than any president since Abraham Lincoln. But as this piece outlines, that is another one of his shameless lies. On Tuesday, let’s make the right choice and elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz! thehill.com/opinion/campaign…

This is not accurate, because Trump’s age has been mentioned, but Trump’s advanced age or the fact that, if elected, he will be the oldest POTUS ever elected, is nothing but a passing mention. It never drove the narrative, no one has ever really looked at the consequences.

Never ceases to amaze me how many folks who’ve heard RATM are in Paul Ryan mode, having literally ZERO understanding of anything that band was about and even less understanding where any of us might stand on contemporary issues. Recently was talking to a couple at a restaurant who were big fans of “Killing In The Name”. The nice lady said, “I love that song. It helped me rage against my parents and later against the jab!” I said, “Ma’am that song is about racist cops who often behave like the Ku Klux Klan in service of historical white supremacy and are boot licking lackeys and thugs of the racist capitalist ruling class.” She sat there chewing and blinking, chewing and blinking.

I’m not a puppet Elon.. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you….But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle…. PS fix my algorithm
