#nudgestock first thing in the morning today, and it keeps me glued to my screen as I'm catching a few last sessions live. It's just brilliant. Also - we need a US-based edition of Nudgestock!

To cheer for this year #Nudgestock's featured topic, I'm posting some thoughts on the psychology of time for #eventprofs. 1. #EventPsychology

While I don't urge events do the same [right away ๐Ÿ˜‰ ], I do urge every event organizer to remember that what they are actually asking people for in return for a ticket is not $$$, but something much more valuable - their time.

They're making decisions about your event based on whether or not they feel it's going to be worth their time first of all. #EventPsychology

Our industry seems to have a hard time getting rid of the word "packed". Instead of 'jam-packed agenda' there's now 'action-packed agenda'. Will we see times when slowing down and non-packed are trending?

Good habits for #eventprofs #3 ๐Ÿ’กAudit your working routine. It's often the small things that add up to overall overwhelm. For example: Do you have a padding between your daily calls? Do you take 1 big break or several tiny breaks? What do you do during it? #EventPsychology

Fun fact: Research says the happiest people spend 25% less time alone and engage in 70% more conversations. The more conversational event formats we implement, the happier people are likely to be. #EventPsychology

Good habits for #eventprofs. #2๐Ÿ’กNurture your social connections. It's not about numbers, though. Having QUALITY social connections makes people happy and results in better performance, less stress, and more satisfaction with their life. #EventPsychology

Good habits for #eventprofs. #1๐Ÿ’ก Look after your physical health. Why: Mind and body are inextricably linked. #neuroscience Benefit: โฌ‡๏ธ

The more you focus on your physical needs (ex: drinking enough water while traveling or attending a big event like #IMEX), the better your cognitive performance & emotional state will be. You'll have more fun and gain more from it. #EventPsychology #MateyTip

When I met Sofia the Robot, I asked her one question right away: "What's the meaning of life?" Thatโ€™s probably the only situation where a deep conversation starter feels right when meeting someone new ๐Ÿ˜ With humans, it feels weird, so we end up talking about the weather etcโฌ‡๏ธ

Which also feels weird and inauthentic. A vicious loop that makes #networking daunting & stressful. But hereโ€™s the thing. ๐Ÿง  Studies show people actually crave deep conversations. We keep thinking we won't enjoy them, but then we do. So where do we #eventprofs start? โฌ‡๏ธ
