Today for #BlackHistoryMonth, you should learn about Benjamin Banneker. He had very little formal education, but had a strong interest in mathematics and built America's first clock. It was a wooden device that struck every hour. #math

Today for #BlackHistoryMonth I want to introduce you to Elbert Cox. He was the first African-American to ever receive a PhD in mathematics. There is now a scholarship fund named in his honor that is used to help black students pursue studies. #math
