“… it’s as important for proponents of “evidence-based education” to turn the same critical lens on their own beliefs that they wield so quickly against other theories of learning and other ways of doing school.”

I highly recommend David Johnston’s book on teaching neurodiverse learners in math classroom. Short chapters, very readable, and would be perfect for a PLC book study !

This is Bama, Dinco, Elphaba, and Argus. They've been trying to take a family photo for the last 45 minutes. Really hard to remember if it's tongues out eyes open or tongues in eyes closed. 13/10 for all
ALT a group of four pups has assembled at the top of some wooden deck stairs to try to take a nice family photo. there’s a large husky in the back, pointedly looking off to the left. the row in front has three pups in ascending height order from left to right: a little brown and black pup with their ears out, staring right at the photographer and wondering when this will be over, a medium black and tan dog with their tongue firmly affixed to their right nostril, and a big brown and white dog sticking their tongue out at you.
ALT the same four pups struggle to get it together. the littlest one is now licking the nose of the black and tan dog, while the brown dog is now in profile with a very impressive tongue curled up to their nostrils. the husky is now glaring at their siblings, clearly irritated that they can’t sit still.
ALT the smallest two dogs are now facing the camera, one looking light they were surprised to learn a photo was being taken, and one with a face slightly covered in peanut butter who’s glaring at the camera. the brown pup is sampling their own left nostril now, and the husky is sticking their tongue out at the camera because they can let loose sometimes too.
ALT tiny pup sticks their tongue out this time! medium pup got distracted and his sniffing the air. brown and white pup has their ears out horizontally and their tongue in their mouth, shockingly, but it looks like they’re having to focus really hard to keep it that way. the husky is actively snarling in the background, with squinty eyes and teeth slightly bared.
"Developmental progressions characterize common pathways that students take when learning concepts, ...students learn at their own pace ...(Ebbyetal2021)." Teachers must know and be able to assess the journey! Math Running Records amazon.com/Running-Records-A…
Fat people aren’t flawed, they don’t have a smaller self just desperate to come out, they aren’t a house on an HGTV show in need of fixing. Fatness isn’t negative. Fat people have always existed and always will! I hope that one day in our lifetime the world can understand
