This book was both the easiest and hardest thing I've ever written. It's also the least made up thing I've written. Quyanaq to @TorNightfire my agents, the incredible designers of the cover, and all the phenomenal people who said nice things about it.

So like here's the thing I have: 1) a newsletter that bothers inboxes less than once a year and 2) something very cool that I would love your help with If you do it before midnight tonight you'll be in on the party 😌🤫 fanart by @moscatdan

Your favorite Indigenous dark fiction anthology has now been a national bestseller for 63 consecutive weeks! Indie booksellers continue to match readers with Never Whistle at Night, and we couldn’t achieve this without the writers and booksellers. Y’all are amazing. If you didn’t know, Ted and I are currently reading submissions for the sequel which will be published Fall 2026. There is tough competition for open call spots because up and coming NDN writers out there are so dang talented. Can’t wait to share them with you. NeverWhistleAtNight.com

Just some guys, pissing into an ocean of piss. You have to pay them, too, for the privilege of getting thrown in the slop trough. If anybody wants your money in order to publish your work, run a mile. Run 100 miles, actually.

The last time I sent out a newsletter was *checks notes* nearly a year ago. Anyway, I'm fixing to send one out soon, and it will have all kinds of weird and wild opportunities if you like reading horrifying things. So if you're into that, sign up. preview.mailerlite.io/previe…

Starting to put together my January-April pitches for NPR, so if you have a novel coming, let me know. Horror/science fiction/etc go to NYT and Locus, so I’m mostly looking for literary fiction, short story collections, nonfiction, and whatever else you got.

I'm 36 and have been married to my husband over half my life I fall asleep cuddling him every night, he's my best friend, my biggest supporter, and I'm more attracted to him now than when we got married, which is saying something. He's really working that gray in the beard šŸ˜

Low key love it when I have the opportunity to drop the words "parasitic, incestuous mushroom cult" into an academic research paper

I've used the word "agaric" at least three times in this paper and I'm not sorry.

I'm writing in the library, and my husband brought me a charger because my laptop was about to die And he insisted I was underdressed to bike home in the cold later, so he also left me his scarf and hoodie. I love this man

Y'all I'm spending the evening working on college applications with my 17 year old. Undergrad for her, grad for me. We're hoping to end up in the same area. Life is weird.
