Folks, I’m at #ona24 and I’m pretty sure that it’s my first Online News Association conference since 2016 in Denver. I would love to reconnect with as many journo nerds from the before times as possible (and make new friends too!) Are you here as well? Hit me up!

Alright, it’s time for my annual “I’m at a conference, let’s (re)connect!” tweet. I’m at #PM24 - it’s my first Podcast Movement in 5 years, and first time giving a conference talk in just as long. Come find me and say hi!

At 11:45 today, I’ll be nerding out about episode artwork and your listeners’ visual journey in podcast apps, at the NPR stage (back left corner of the #PM24 exhibit hall) - would love some friendly faces in the audience!

I’m biased, but I think podcast episode images is an incredibly important & practical topic - this presentation is a bit of a workhorse of a deck, if you will. One of our platform partner reps told me how “timely” they thought it was. Come learn more at 11:45! #PM24

*taps mic* is anyone left on here? Is anyone at #PMDMC23 or #BraveTalk2023 using Twitter? 1st conference in 4 years over here. Excited that I could take advantage of being back in Atlanta to attend this conference for the first time.

@emily_kinslow, @BrendanCrump3, and Taylor Ash have brought so much innovation to their individual projects in the time that I have known them. They are truly the future of the podcast ecosystem, and I am so proud to get to work with them.

Taylor worked with @throughlineNPR @NPRCodeSwitch & @NPRItsBeenAMin assisting with the development and outlining of team processes, systems, and workflows, and some leadership and host changes. Her super power is pursuing strategic partnerships to help NPR reach new audiences.

.@emily_kinslow is superstar. She was instrumental for the Planet Money Record Label — she's the CEO, CFO, and CTO of the label. She was a huge part of the success for our live event. She made stray ideas come true. 💔 for our team. some lucky place will get to work w/ her next.

@emily_kinslow launched several ambitious series for @planetmoney and The Indicator. She tackles whatever it takes to help your wild ideas come to fruition. Need to get some vinyls pressed for your fledgling record company? She figured that out, and did it all with good humor.

(Posting with permission) NPR is losing amazing talent this week. Among them, 3 fantastic folks on my team: Taylor Ash @ekinslow @BrendanCrump3. As podcast coordinators they supported show runners with everything that needs to happen for podcasts to thrive. You should hire them!

They played vital roles in tying together disparate parts of this complex organization, from news to marketing, digital content to development, tech to visuals. For even more on the breadth of work they are capable of, here is our podcast coordinator JD: entertainmentcareers.net/npr…

Ugh also I’m technically OOO (and traveling) today and am doing this on my phone and somehow garbled Emily’s handle in the first tweet when I copied & pasted, like a boomer. It’s @emily_kinslow!! She’s the best!

Absolutely wild that before Facebook was a boomer wasteland, it was a reliable platform to organize and share events and get a vague idea of how many people would attend. And now somehow our best bet is IG which is basically a big telephone pole with 5 years of flyers taped to it

A good day to boost your gift to public media. Please support your local stations. They're the bedrock of what @NPR does. ❤️🙏
News: NPR to lay off about 10 percent of its workforce. CEO John Lansing says ad revenue for podcasting shriveled even as general economy seems on mend. He promises NPR will build on its mission and values but adds, ""This will be a major loss." My story: npr.org/2023/02/22/115871049…

Same tweet, but after a really hard week.
Shout out to 3 types of colleagues at NPR after a really hard day: 1. Those who went back to work unsure of their future & that of their close friends. 2. Those who turned their journalistic focus on our own organization 3. Those who were too numb /hurt/afraid to do anything.
