It is wild to me that most professional bikes races seemingly don’t have an emergency or contingency plan at the ready, and that they will always do what ever they can to plough through. Cancellation should always be an option. Our sport runs in an uncontrolled environment

Some good discussion on this, Angi isn’t the solution, the point is that technology exists, don’t tell me we can live feed a riders real time power, heart rate, core temp but not know if they’re currently laying in a ditch. Don’t stop talking about this til it’s fixed. For Muriel

The technology exists, Specialized purchased it called ‘Angi’ crash response alert to 3 contacts with GPS, as do so many other ‘crash’ tech products. UCI receives $26M from Olympics, use it to keep riders finishing races alive

🇨🇭Swiss authorities confirm crash site of Muriel Furrer.
"The rider fell near Küsnacht, during a descent from the hamlet of Schmalzgrueb in a gentle left bend."
Blick media believes the crash occurred at 11:03 and that Furrer was found after the race ended (12:33)

there are more lights on bikes now than even 10 years ago. Only for there to be more deaths of cyclists than a decade ago.
Clothing is better. Lights are better. There are more reflective elements. All improved. More deaths. Almost like riders are not the real issue at hand...
