A4 Take a minute and go back to your first twitter posts about MW and how math looks in your room. Wow! Don't stop believing! We've come so far! #MAESmath
A3: Next school we can refine our MW practices by starting with the mini lessons, and setting up a successful math workshop from the start of the year. I'd also like our school to focus on various number sense routines in PLCs. #MAESmath
A2: Around our school I hear much more math talk, more Sts sharing their thinking, new number sense routines used, and many engaged sts. I commend this group of teachers for taking risks and shifting mindsets! #MAESmath
A1: MW encourages Sts to communicate and collaborate. It enables Ts to address the individual needs in a classroom through differentiation. MW promotes math reasoning, is engaging, and leads to math understanding. #MAESmath
A7 Student reflection is important so sts share what they learned, how they persevered during the math block, and wrap up the lesson. Ts should be active listeners during this time to guage understanding, and possible misconceptions. This will guide future lessons. #MAESmath
A4: A good learning station has a math focus, is repeatable, and accessible for all sts. They are engaging places where learning takes place, and prior skills can be reviewed. Remembering "less is more" and "quality over quantity" are important when designing. #MAESmath
Number sense routines are used to get students engaged in math talk and using math reasoning at the beginning of class. They should be used routinely. #MAESmath
So much flexibility with numbers shown by our 5th graders today! 73 is the answer. What is the question? Some students even applied what they learned with order of operations. #MAESmath
The combined age of Ms. Krevonick, Mrs. Hockham, and Mrs. Humphries is 108. How old is each teacher? Can you figure it out? Our 5th graders used their mathematical reasoning and figured it out! Leave your guess in the comments. #MAESmath
Think this would be a great plan to implement at MES. It is manageable. Our Twitter Ts have surpassed this!! Amazing things happening in math classrooms.
