Tetsuya Nomura says Kingdom Hearts is the title he worked on that has left the largest impression on him. It was the first title he directed and was still getting the hang of things. As a result, there were indeed times when staff had conflicts, and he had to calm them down.
Nomura believes it’s important for staff to enjoy creating a game together. For him, a Director never works alone, and he has to remind himself to be grateful to his staff for putting up with him at times. Treating the work with the same care leads to better motivation as well.
He also wants to let his staff be heard since he remembers when he was working under others in the past, he was happy when the higher ups decided to go with ideas he suggested.
