In the past five years, 1,075,515 people have been baptized in Southern Baptist churches. One million testimonies. One million families changed. Yes, we face challenges, and we are honest about that. But on the one number that matters most, God is moving. | #SBC26

Hey Jasmine… Black pilot here. I think you missed the plot. Then again, that’s becoming a pattern. I graduated from West Point. I went through Army flight school. I learned to fly the AH-64 Apache. I deployed to combat and flew 55 combat missions over Baghdad. Nobody handed me a cockpit because of my skin color. Nobody lowered the standards for me. Nobody looked at me and said, “Let’s check a diversity box.” That’s what people like you don’t seem to understand. Suggesting that Black pilots, Black engineers, Black doctors, or Black leaders need special preferences to succeed is not empowering, it’s insulting. I didn’t want a different standard. I wanted the same standard. And when you’re flying into combat, the American people don’t care what race the pilot is. They care whether the pilot is qualified. Merit isn’t racist. Excellence isn’t discriminatory. And reducing every achievement to skin color says far more about your worldview than it does about mine.

This was a recent development. Here's why after prayer I agreed to be nominated. 1. I love our denomination. The SBC has shaped my life and given me a love for scripture and a love for missions, and a love for people. 2. I love God's word. Since being trained in Bible Drill by my mom (even one year before I was allowed) I've been passionate about studying, memorizing, and proclaiming the scriptures. "We have a book." 3. I love our mission. As a young RA and later a counselor at McCall RA camp I've been fueled by encouraging others to stay on mission. Let's get it done. 4. I love Pastors. My hero/mentor/Pastor/dad served faithfully in one local church for 32 years. He loved on and encouraged those around him. I want to be like him when I grow up. 5. I love our annual meetings. Since first coming in 1979 as a ten year old kid, this has been a part of my summer routine. The people are my tribe, crazy and all. So, as the Lord wills, by His grace, for His glory.
Paul Purvis, lead pastor at Mission Hill Church in Temple Terrace, Florida, will be nominated for first vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention at the 2026 SBC Annual Meeting. baptistpress.com/resource-li…

As a child in my SBC church I was taught the importance of God's word. I participated in Bible Drill every year possible. In 1979 I started attending the SBC Annual Meetings (usually as a part of our vacation) with my hero/pastor/dad, and I got to hear preachers like Charles Stanley, Adrian Rogers, WA Criswell and so many more remind us of the sufficiency of scripture. I've attended most conventions since that time. As a Pastor, I've led SBC churches in several states and preached the inerrant infallible word of God. Southern Baptist are a people of the book. Men of God like my dad turned back liberalism in the 80's and 90's. We are not perfect. Like me our family of churches can always uses some improvement, but we are still people of the book. God things are happening in the SBC, and I'm grateful we get to get in on what He is doing! Stay on mission my friends. “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

How do you reach a state of 23 million people? One conversation and one church at a time.  The 2025 baptism report in Florida is a testament to what happens when we prioritize a Culture of Evangelism. 🙌 By training local pastors and planting 69 new Send Network churches, the foundation was laid for a historic year of life change. Next stop: Orlando. 📍 We believe Crossover 2026 will be a catalyst for even more gospel impact.

What’s the most important thing, Coach?
RIP Lou Holtz 🙏🏼 Even more important than his many, incredible accomplishments as a coach & broadcaster, he loved Jesus Christ.

God is teaching Florida Baptists much through insurance, fire 🔥 district issues, financial stress… God is faithful!
It’s not every day a story about door gaps and fire codes turns into a testimony of God’s provision. But that’s exactly what happened at Crossroads Community Church in Lady Lake — and yes, 1/16 of an inch really did matter. Read full story: ow.ly/bHgO50YppR0

In Montreal, where it is less than 1% evangelical, Andrew Adil’s church plant is seeing God move in amazing ways. From Friday night street conversations to baptizing 10 people in their first year, the gospel is spreading where many thought it couldn’t. Pray for: - More fruit to come from Friday night on-the-street gospel conversations. - God to call and equip church planting interns out of Andrew Mark’s church who will help plant more new works. - More Christians to come and share Christ with the 99% of people in Quebec who are lost.

A tiny, aging church was months from closing until they hired Troy Gause to mow the lawn. What started as a landscaping job turned into a God-sized miracle. Troy, a church planting missionary, connected with Ames Boulevard Baptist Church’s faithful few, and together, they re-launched Cross Community Church. Now? Baptisms, salvations, and life are back in the building. God raised this church from the dead. Pray for: - Humility and understanding as members of Cross Community Church face change. - The new believers Troy has baptized to grow in their faith. - Growth and a gospel witness that the surrounding community will see and be drawn to.

Every dollar given equips missionaries, plants churches, and helps reach people with the hope of Jesus. Together, we’re part of something bigger than ourselves. This is more than an offering; it’s a kingdom movement. #AnnieArmstrong #NorthAmericanMissions #Missionaries
